I am considering the purchase of a 2002 exocet speed slider 67, 118L
My use will be as a light wind board with a 7.5 Retro lake sailing.
My current light wind board is a 1998 F2 295II Xantos at 133L with a
full fin quiver, I weigh in at 150 Lbs. The newer wide styles seem to
plane before me and cary through the lulls better, especially the
hypersonics which would be my next choice if the feed back is not
favorable. My request is for feed back on the Exocet and possibly a
comparison of the two boards, will I plane sooner going wider with
less volume?? What size weed fin to compliment the 7.5 on this
board?? All information would be appreciated..Randy

Never sailed the speedslider, but yes, you wil plane earlier with
wider but lower volume board, particularly at your weight.
You may even have more high wind control since there is so much less
nose hanging out in front.
What you might loose is chop comfort and stability. Your narrower
board with more vee should be better at cutting through the chop.
Xantos was a great board in its day, but there has been another
revoution since the revolution started by the Xantos line.
Hypersonic is very unique and different feelig board - love it or hate
it. Most other modern boards like the speedslider are normal feeling.

I think you will find the speed slider a much more friendly board and
much easier to dial in than the hypersonic, though the hypersonic
might be slightly more better suited for high end blasting and, i
would imagine, handle chop slightly better.

Hi Randy,
The Exocet Speed Slider 67 will exceed your expectations...
http://www.surfingsports.com/exocet_speedslider.asp
Very "plug n' play"...step into the footstraps and fly...
Super smooth and comfy feel from the heel bumpers...early planer and fast...
At 150 lbs and a 7.5m2 Retro you will own it...
For weed fins, I'd recommend a 14.5" (37cm) Blade Weed:

or same in Santa Barbara Weed depending on weed type and thickness...

Several sailors are using my 10" (25cm) FreeWeed in very weedy areas on
this same board to great success...even on Hypersonics...

Here's the 12" FreeWeed in comparison to the 14.5" Blade weed:

The Hypersonic is a great board , too...lots written on it...just Google
it up...I have tons of pics and vid clips of it embedded in that info...
